This organic restaurant is located in the hip Lower East Side, which has become a happening neighborhood in the past few years.

It's the first restaurant from diehard trendsters Ben Towill and Phil Winser, who live in the apartment above The Fat Radish (rumor is that they built the building). The interior design strikes a spare, industrial note, with whitewashed walls and monochromatic wooden furniture, but the atmosphere is always warm and inviting.

The Fat Radish is all about local organic ingredients, an idea inspired by contemporary British cuisine with its emphasis on going "back to the farm." Towill and Winser have said their goal is to serve honest, fresh, and healthy food. It's a fantastic place for brunch.

We recommend: mushroom risotto; green curried monkfish with wild rice; Montauk diver scallops on a bed of golden beets and sweet potato mash. You can also order off the pre-fixe menu for between $70 and $90.
