an authentic restaurant in Brera

Via San Marco, 38, 20121 Milano
+39 02 657 1658
Mon-Sat 12:00–23:30
Cost: €30–50

Hidden in the side-streets of Brera is a small Italian restaurant done-up in the classic Milanese style – little tables, white tablecloths, unremarkable tiled floors, large platters of fresh fish and seafood on platters by the entrance. Bebel's is famous for its exceptional food, including most notably the pasta with saffron, which has won rave reviews from the journalists at Corriere della Sera (the newspaper is based next door) and even Miuccia Prada herself.

"Casual" is probably the best word to describe Bebel’s – it's the kind of place you'd go for warm conversation, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere.

We recommend: Besides the classics – grilled fish and meat – try the pasta with saffron.

Cuisine: classic Italian

Atmosphere: cozy/friendly

The crowd: Mostly locals, along with a smattering of celebrities, journalists, and tourists.

FYI: The bread served prior to your meal is not meant for human consumption. How else can you explain the fact that it's rock-hard?! Wait for the food to arrive and order pizza or focaccia instead. It's the restaurant's only flaw …
