Olya Dzilikhova
it girl and co-founder Mina+Olya shares her favorite places in New-York
Olya Dzilikhova is not your typical Russian doll. Born in Russia, Olya came to New York at the age of eight and became a permanent resident at fifteen. The co-founder of the San Francisco based luxury sustainable clothing brand for women, Mina+Olya. Olya often finds herself back in her New York stomping grounds for business.
FOOD
Spring over to Balthazar on Spring Street for the best brunch. Sip on bloody Mary’s and feast on onion soup, oysters and eggs Benedict.
For a casual night out I adore Mission Chinese. Although you can try to get a reservation online, Mission Chinese likes to reward the walk-ins that wait it out for a table, first with free beer while you wait.
For a traditional Italian meal I recommend heading over to the Upper East Side to Scalinatella. I shared countless meals with my parents over a bowl of their famous home made pasta. The white table clothes, old school waiters, pasta made tableside and tomatoes taken off the vine right there as order them.
For a modern Italian night I would recommend Locanda Verde. Partially owned by De Niro it is a celebrity New York hot spot.
HOTELS
Since I travel back and fourth all the time, hotels in NYC something that I am definitely familiar with. There are two of my favorite places. If you want to be next to absolutely everything like Bergdorf Goodman, Central Park, flagship stores the St. Regis is the best. The service and rooms are amazing. If you want a traditional New York experience definitely swing by the King Cole Bar.
For the more trendy traveler check out the Ace Hotel. The Ace Hotel is a bit rusty but where they lack in décor they make up with the most amazing Austrian restaurant downstairs. Go there for lunch where you will have the best Caesar salad with green goddess dressing and be sure to try the chicken liver pate. It is to die for! In the morning don’t forget to stop by a coffee shop where you might run into Gisele or Kelly Ripa standing in line. Celebrities they’re just like us!
SHOP
New York is the Mecca of shopping. There are no shortages of great shops. I love Kirna Zabette for their great selection. I always find a piece that is cutting edge and different. OWEN NYC is a new great store that has a lot of must-haves from world wide designers. A lined wall of paper bags completes the effortless cool artist vibe. Jeffry’s a tried and true. They never disappoint with their great selection of Louboutin and Alaia shoes.
