Since its inception in 1996 and for the past 20 years Gajah Gallery has established its reputation in Singapore for presenting ground-breaking exhibitions and fostering a forward-thinking discourse on the growing Indonesian and South East Asian contemporary art scene.
With its expansion in 2015 the gallery relocated into an impressive industrial warehouse in Tanjong Pagar where Gajah Gallery hosts up to 10 large-scale exhibitions every year. The gallery primarily represents Indonesian contemporary art with a portfolio of 20 artists and other countries of the Asian region including 8 artists from Singapore.
Gajah Gallery embraces the full scope of contemporary art forms from figurative painting to conceptual sculpture and installation. We recommend looking at Abdi Setiawan and his homage to Jeff Koons, provocative works of Ashley Bickerton, expressive paintings of Erizal AS, installations by Handiwirman Saputra, ironic primitivism of Li Jin and Yunizar and intricate sculptures by S. Nandagopal.
Key info: Gajah Gallery has a branch in Indonesia as well as Yogya Art Lab in Jakarta, an experimental platform fostering international art collaborations.
