This gallery, named after founders Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin, has two spaces in New York – in Chelsea and on the Lower East Side. Founded in 1996, it's always stood out for being far-sighted. Many artists have become celebrated and famous after exhibiting here. Currently, Lehmann Maupin showcases works by about 30 artists, a diverse group united by their search for new possibilities and points of view.
FYI: The Lower East Side location at 201 Chrystie Street is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Monday and Tuesday by appointment. Lehmann Maupin opened in Hong Kong in 2013.
