Influential art dealer Larry Gagosian and chef Masayoshi Takayama, known for his restaurant, Masa, have opened a Japanese restaurant under Gagosian's flagship gallery on Madison Avenue. It's one of the hottest places in town! Exiting the elevator on the lower level after checking out the latest exhibition, you find yourself in the company of well-known art dealers and collectors. Gagosian had been nursing the idea of opening a restaurant for some time. A regular guest at Takayama's Masa, he one day proposed a partnership, and the decision was made to join forces.

Masayoshi and his team prepare contemporary Japanese cuisine with signature flare in an open kitchen. Masayoshi, who began his culinary career as a young man in Japan, continues to pursue his passion for fine cooking in America, and he's contributed so much to traditional gastronomy over the years.

We recommend: Wasabi Tuna Tartar, Negi Toro Temaki, langoustines with lime. The menu is creative enough, and there are options for lovers of extravagance – ex. black caviar and white truffle rolls.

Cuisine: contemporary Japanese/original

Atmosphere: relaxed/creative

Crowd: art connoisseurs and gourmands

FYI: vegetarian dishes are available
