This hugely influential gallery has locations in New York (uptown and downtown), London and Zurich, where it was founded by current co-presidents Iwan and Manuela Wirth, and Ursula Hauser in 1992.
The London gallery opened in 2003, and the first New York gallery opened on the Upper East Side in 2009. In 2013, Hauser & Wirth cut the ribbon on a gigantic exhibition space in Chelsea, featuring works by more than 50 celebrated and up-and-coming artists, including Louise Bourgeois, Christoph Büchel, Martin Creed, Andy Hope 1930 (i.e. Andreas Hofer), Roni Horn, and many others.
