Visiting Central Park for the first time, you're likely to experience a strong feeling of déjà vu. This makes sense, since the park has appeared in so many films that it would be strange not to feel like you're been here before. Even so, no film captures the amazing atmosphere.Throngs of tourists, relaxed locals on their morning run, bicyclists, cuddling couples — it's an oasis in the very heart of the city.

The park's history began way back in 1857, when a competition to design the landscape was announced. Construction was slow and problem-ridden, concluding in 1873. The park flourished in the first half of the 20th century, then went through a period of decline, only to re-emerge in the 1980s. Today, it's the pride of the city and a major tourist attraction.
