This Mediterranean-inspired restaurant from chef Daniel Boulud is near Lincoln Center. It's more like a trendy bistro, featuring a spacious interior, neatly arranged tables, pictures on the walls, and bright colors and decor. Boulud combines recipes from Provence to Tuscany and the Greek islands, transforming standard and traditional dishes according to his own vision and good taste, in the literal sense. The kitchen is open and surrounded by high chairs. There's also a bar, a lounge area, and a terrace.
We recommend: lemon-saffron linguini; crispy artichokes alla romana. Lovers of eastern flavors should order the Mediterranean mezze for the table: Moroccan hummus, herb falafel, and baba ghanoush. Simple foods like lamb and grilled chicken are also excellent.
Cuisine: Mediterranean/original
Atmosphere: trendy brasserie
Crowd: Upper Manhattan residents, designers, architects, white-collar workers
FYI: Try the tasting menu for a surprise from the chef. Boulud Sud is perfect for weekend brunch.
