This hotel is part of the renowned EDITION Hotels, conceived by Ian Schrager, the co-founder of the cult celebrity hot spot of 70’s New York, Studio 54. As a home to his new brainchild Schrager chose a unique building in the heart of Midtown- the Clock Tower, a graceful white column structure known in the area as the MetLife Tower. Built in 1909 it was once the tallest building in New York.
The New York EDITION opened its doors in 2015 designed in tact with the signature style of the brand: a mix of retro and contemporary, with mirrors and photographs hung in gilt frames and marble features throughout.
The hotel has 273 rooms including suites, all finished in pastel tones with light and airy feel. The décor is minimalist yet full of thoughtful details: each bed is complemented with a comfy throw, whilst the walls of the suites boast an occasional iconic piece from the 1963 ‘Bubble’ series by renowned fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky.
The hotel’s dining experience is curated by a celebrated British chef Jason Atherton, currently a proud owner of one Michelin Star. His restaurant The Clocktower offers a menu of contemporary British cuisine and has gained its popularity both with the hotel guests and the locals. For pre-dinner drinks head down to the hotel’s Gold Bar. You can also taste some of the delicious signature cocktails at the Lobby Bar, try EDITION Owl or the “High Tea” (served in a teapot for sharing). The New York EDITION offers Spa and a 24hr gym. The room price covers Wi-Fi, you can also choose whether to have breakfast included.
Key info: if in need you will be provided with an Ipad or a laptop to use during your stay, feel free to ask.
