Palazzo Parigi Milano is the brainchild of the well-known Milanese architect and designer Paola Giambelli. The hotel, which combines Parisian chic with a Milanese vibe, opened its doors in 2013 after a five-year renovation of the old Palazzo Cramer XVII.
Giambelli selected the interior details herself, filling the hotel with antiques, works by the old masters, and other artifacts culled from her extensive collection assembled over years of tireless travel. The lobby, for instance, is decorated with 18th century tapestries made in the Aubusson commune in central France. And to the left of the stairs hangs "Portrait of a Little Girl With a Dog" (1902) by Belgian artist Eugène Siberdt. It's a rich aesthetic! Each of the 98 rooms and suites boasts its own balcony or terrace. Looking out over the roofs and gardens of Milan, you can feel the city's infectious energy.
The hotel is also home to Caffe Parigi, a gastro hotspot for locals who come in part to luxuriate on the restaurant's leafy summer terrace. Last year saw the opening of La Grand Spa, considered the largest in Milan and a Moroccan-style wonderland of panoramic windows that features a six-meter swimming pool. Palazzo Parigi Milano is located in the historic, bohemian Brera district not far from the Academy of Fine Arts, the Pinacoteca, and the Teatro alla Scala opera house.
FYI: Art is at the core of the Palazzo Parigi Milano. Sculptures, paintings, tapestries, and antique vases are absolutely everywhere. The presidential suite, for example, contains 19th century paintings—"The Lions" by the German artist Hans Schmidt and "The Mandolin Player" by Federico Maldarelli of Naples.
