This small street-food venue serves traditional kueh in one of Singapore's famed hawker centers - Berseh Food Center. Singapore's hawker centers are special food-courts with numerous food stalls, as a rule, very cheap. Nevertheless, they don’t slack on quality, and some have even been awarded Michelin stars.
It is worth trying the authentic Teochew kueh, the original version is stuffed with bamboo shoots, but the Singaporean varieties come with a wide selection of fillings, from Chinese chives to shrimp. The dough for kue is thin, and is prepared using rice flour mixed with tapioca starch
Cuisine: Chinese/street-food.
We recommend: Soon Kueh; Koo Chye Kueh; Ang Ku Kueh.
Atmosphere: unpretentious.
Crowd: white-collars, locals and creative travellers.
Key info: a portion of kueh costs $2.
