The museum of twentieth century art, located in a striking modernist building on Piazza Duomo, is where locals and visitors go to get inspired. The museum, which recently emerged from a three-year, 28-million euro renovation, devotes several floors to Italy's greatest twentieth century artists, including the futurists Giacomo Balla, Gino Severini, Ardengo Soffici, Giorgio Morandi, Giorgio de Chirico, and others. Its permanent collection features works by Matisse, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Picasso, and other giants of twentieth century art.

Visitors to the top floor are treated to a breathtaking view of Piazza Duomo and Cathedral. You could call it a view of history itself; many spend hours here contemplating the passage of time and the transcendence of artistic masterpieces.
